This paper presents some methods and results of set-up flooding map in downstream region of Ba river, Phu Yen province corresponding to water alert level and based on results of the coupling of the 1D model and the 2D flood plain model. The 1D hydraulic model was setup for river-channel system of Ba river including 271 km length of main river with 1.400 computation node. The 2D domain covers all the floodplain in the region within administrative boundaries of 6 administrative units of Phu Yen province and including more than 75.000 calculation elements. The coupled model was calibrated and verified with catastrophic flood events in 2009 and flood event in 2010. Then the flood inundation maps for warning water level of Phu Lam hydrological station were established for flood area, maximum inundation depth and were analised in admintrative boundary of 5 provinces, 1 city in the Ba river downstream region. The results of research were scientific base for deployment of flood prevention and disaster mitigation at national and local level.

Climate change leads the changing of water resources, especially the flood issues such as magnitude of peak flood, frequency… It also causes the risk of damage for the reservoirs which were designed in the past. The paper proposes an approach in order to estimate the design flood in the context of climate change for the A Vương reservoir. Using the output of RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios fromthe HadGEM2-AO and HadGEM3-RA models, the results show that the magnitudes of peak flood increase about 25% to 35%.The study will provide scientific base to propose flood design standard as an output of National research project BĐKH 61.

Up to present, rock fill weirs with concrete slab surface have been being constructed in large scale water resources and hydropower projects. In construction period, sustainable scheme and constructive flux flow approaches are based on technical-economic requirements. For this kind of structures design of constructive flux flow scheme is always based on flux flow through incompletion rock fill weir (in construction). The mentioned scheme has shown that it is effective and useful way, especially while construction work has to be done in narrow site, saving incredible cost and time of construction of flux flow and main structures. The problem is that limitation of references, difficult in detail design exactly but having to apply the similitude kind of constructive structures. This paper presents experimental approaches to determine infiltration through weir body comparing to total flow discharge over weir in time of in construction flux flow through rock fill with concrete slab surface (in construction).

Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin is large in Mid-Central Coast. There are 756 reservoirs and weirs provide irrigation water for about 40 thousand hectares of cultivated land. And much of the water resource exploitation works serve industrial development, water supply and aquaculture. Particularly, in recent years there have been many large hydropower projects in the basin to be constructed and put into use. An audit of the basin water resources, considering the impact of the irrigation and hydroelectric power systems for the needs of the water users is very important. The article introduces the calculation results on the basin water balance for the current period and forecast to 2020 as a basis for determining the minimum flow to ensure normal development of ecosystems aquatic behavior and ensure a minimum for mining activities, use of water resources for water users in the basin.

Load capacity of the water environment is able to receive the maximum wastes that still meet the quality requirements for the use purposes specified in the study area (to maintain the ecological balance, ensure that the water quality for irrigation and water supply purposes).

The Vu Gia – Thu Bon river is one of the 10 largest river basins in Vietnam , the main water supply for Quang Nam province and Da Nang city. There are many large hydropower reservoirs in upstream of river such as Dak Mi 4, Song Tranh 2, Song Bung 3, 5, 6, and A Vuong. The operation of these hydropower reservoirs affect considerably to downstream flows; on the other hand the situation of the discharge from factories, industrial zones and residential areas along the river has been causing downstream pollution. Therefore, determined capacity of receiving waste water of Vu Gia - Thu Bon river water has significant and highly practical science.

In the article we briefly introduce the results of determined capacity of receiving waste water of the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river water.

Viet Nam is the country located on the east coast and has a length is 3350 km coastline,located along the coast of the delta, where agricultural production has an important role to the economy of the country.

Characteristics of water resources potential coastal brackish (salty water) are abundant. Therefore, studies using salty water for irrigation during the present drought could save a lot of fresh water to meet the practical requirements of agricultural production in the region.

And practical experience in many countries when applying drip irrigation methods showed that this technique can be used for irrigation water salinity very successful in agriculture.Even, some studies show that the quality and yield of some crops are more higher than the fresh water used for irrigation.

The purpose of this study is to present some initial findings about research saline water by using drip irrigation methods for maize to minimize impact on the environment in Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province, where surface water resources and groundwater are affected by saline intrusion.

The water supply coefficient for aquaculture growing is very important, it is the scientific base for planning and designing the hydraulic structure system for aquaculture growing activity. The finding shows that the water supply coefficient for shrimps growing in the coastal areas has very different values for each area and much higher than the water supply coefficient for paddy (from 2 to 20 times).

Vannamei (whiteleg shrimp) - once considered exotic animals - has become the most cultured species in Binh Dai district, Ben Tre province since 2011, specially developed widely even in the freshening planning areas – where planning for paddy, coconut, sugarcane, fruits, vegetables and all kinds of freshwater fisheries - people still cut coconut, clearance paddy fields to dig out ponds for whiteleg shrimp culturing. Planning broken in the freshening areas is pressing issue in Binh Dai district. Up to 1.658 households in 6 communes (Thanh Tri, Phu Long, Loc Thuan, Phu Vang, Thoi Lai and Dinh Trung) earn their living by whiteleg shrimp culturing/farming, with the fond areas raised up to 600 hectares. The problem becomes more severe as the movement of drilling salinity groundwater wells for shrimp farming becomes aggressive. Almost all farmers have at least one salinity groundwater well serving whiteleg shrimp farming. In 2014, the Provincial People Committee decided to fill all the wells serving shrimp farming in the areas. Freshening Plan will take effect in the near future. What to feed, what to plant in the ponds that will be freshening are the burning issues of the people and the local authorities. This study proposes 2 feasible farming models for this freshening region. Those are crayfish farming and lamprey farming. These farming models have been done by the local people in the Mekong Delta with high feasibility in freshening areas and sustainability of economic efficiency.

Surge phenomenon occurs on the pipeline by the closing valve or pump suddenly lost power. Under design conditions, water supply pipe can fully protect from high pressure surge, however, in condition pipe working unavoidable corrosion from the environment inside and outside so it will appear to defects on the pipeline to reduce pipe durability. The affected area of wave pressure by closing the valve and thereby assess the greatest pressure surge effect to corroded pipe is necessary during operation to predict the leakage location on the water distribution systems.

Along the territorial sea of Central Vietnam, many islands of various sizes are playing important roles in politics, security and national defense, and country sovereign. In recent years, due to increasing population pressure, with more conspicuous effect of climate change, these islands are continually eroded. This paper presents results of wave model and estimation of coastline change and beach erosion of Phu Quy island in Binh Thuan province using LITPROF and MIKE 21 SW model. The research on coastline evolution and beach retreat provides meaningful results for planning, management, exploiting and sustainable development of Phu Quy island in the future.

Turbidity in water happens in both dry season and wet season leading to low attractiveness of beautiful beaches in the area to tourism, especially Do Son tourism beach area – Hai Phong. This article presents some research results of mathematical models MIKE 21/3 Coupled FM on structure solutions to adjust direction of turbidity transmission, sediment transport from river estuaries and coastal areas to Do Son beach area. Then, appropriate solutions are proposed to reduce turbidity and help improve water quality in beach area.
