Meeting with National Disaster Management Research Institute of Korea (NDMI)

In the morning of December 15th 2016, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Tung Phong, Deputy Director General of Vietnam Academy for Water Resources had a meeting with the delegation from National Disaster Management Research Institute of Korea (NDMI).

The representatives from Centre for Training and International Cooperation, Centre for Water Resources Software, Key Laboratory Of River And Coastal Engineering, and Planning Department also attended in the meeting.

The project of “Strengthening the capability of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Disaster Risk Reduction” is proposed by National Disaster Management Research Institute of Korea collaborate withVietnam Academy for Water Resources.

The projetc objective is to set up a flash flood alert system for some river basins of the northern mountainous provinces, included set up a centre of data analysis system; automatic rainfall warning system included rainfall gauge, water level gauge and early warning post; set up automatic flood alert system for some risky river basins; training and technology transfer to Vietnamese side.

At the meeting, the two sides focus on transportation of equipment from Korea to Vietnam, installation of equipment in Lao Cai, tax exemption, human and material resources, direct contacts… in the implementation process and next year plans of the project.
