Opening ceremony of training course on using Google Earth Engine tool

On 21st November 2016, Google Earth Engine training course took place at Vietnam Academy for Water Resources for researchers, management staffs of the Academy's partners and the staffs in the Academy.

The training course is organized by the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources in collaboration with the Mekong Servir Project under the sponsorship of USAID and NASA.

Participants of opening ceremony of the training course include Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Vietnam - Director of Vietnam Academy for Water Resources, Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet – Director of Center for Training and International Cooperation, representatives of Servir Mekong Project, Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC); ); staffs trained by the project; staffs of Center for Training and International Cooperation, more than 40 trainees from the units belonging to Vietnam Academy for Water Resources, agencies and institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, etc.

The training course belongs to the series of collaborative activities between Vietnam Academy for Water Resources and Asian Disaster Preparedness Center - Servir Mekong Project, in which Vietnam Academy for Water Resources has invited scientists of the project to present in co-hosting seminar with the General Department of Water Resources - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on drought management in South Central- - Highlands region in June 2016. To realize significant potential of the application of remote sensing tools for resource management research and management, the Academy required Servir Mekong project to organize a training course on using remote sensing tools in management to improve the capacity of staffs of the Academy and its partners in September 2016. On 21st November 2016, the Academy collaborated with Servir Mekong project to organize a training course on using Google Earth engine tool for researchers, managers of the partner agencies and the staffs of the Academy.

Opening remarks at the training course, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Vu Viet - Director of Vietnam Academy for Water Resources said that this training course is an opportunity for researchers and managers of Vietnam Academy for Water Resources and its partners and relevant agencies to access to new tools and gradually exploit technology and apply in scientific research and management. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for the participants can learn, share experiences together.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources, , Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Vu Viet have expressed thanks to the Servir Mekong Project and Asian Disaster Preparedness Center funded the training course.
