Visit of the delegation from the National Museum of Natural History - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

On September 24th, 2018, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Vu Viet - Director General of the VAWR and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Tung Phong - Deputy Director Generalhad a meeting with Bulgarian expert delegation led by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Petar Kirilov BERON - Editor-in-Chief of Bulgarian Natural History Journal - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Accompanying with Assoc.Prof.Dr. Petar Kirilov BERON, there were also Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ivaylo DEDOV - Institute of Biodiversity and Ecological - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nikolay Parvanov SIMOV and Dr. Rostislav Hristoforov BEKCHIEV - National Museum of Natural History - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Accompanying the delegation, there were Prof. Dr. Vu Quang Manh, Director of Center for Biodiversity Education and Research, Hanoi National University of Pedagogy.

Together with the delegation on the Vietnam Institute of Water Resources Research, there were representatives of the General Planning Department; leaders and experts of Institute of Ecology and Works Protection

Speaking at the meeting with the delegation of scientists from Bulgarian Academy of Science and Technology, on behalf of the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources,Dr. Nguyen Vu Viet welcomed the delegation who visited and worked with the Academy. Dr. Viet said that the Academy has cooperative relationships with many research institutions, universities, and international organizations in many countries around the world. However, VAWR has not had the opportunity to exchange and cooperate with Bulgarian partners in term of research.

"Bulgaria has a developed agriculture and lots of valuable biodiversity research, the Academy hopes that in the coming time, there will be chances for more frequent exchanges between the Bulgarian Institute of Technology Science and the Academy”.

The VAWR Director General introduced to theBulgarian team the organizational structure, mandates, research fields of the Academy.He said that out of 10 member units of the Academy, Institute of Ecology and Works Protection is a research unit on ecological and biological issues. Therefore, he hopes that the Institute of Ecology & Environment will develop specific cooperation with Bulgarian Academy of Science and Technology in the above fields.

On behalf of the Bulgarian expert delegation, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Petar Kirilov BERON - Editor-in-Chief of Bulgarian Natural History Journal - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences thanked the warm reception of the VAWR and hopes that in the future the two sides will strengthen relationship.

Prof. Petar Kirilov BERON said that Bulgarian Natural History Museum is one of Bulgaria's and Europe's oldest historical institutions with 130 years. The Institute has a relationship with Bulgaria's Institute of Biodiversity and Ecology. Besides, the Institute has relations with Vietnam and many Vietnamese people studied in Bulgaria. Prof. Petar Kirilov BERON hoped that this visit wotld concretize the relationship under the support and facilitation of the Academy.

In addition, Prof. Petar Kirilov BERON also thanked the Academy for sending experts to assist the delegation in surveying, collecting data and specimens in the last 10 days in Vietnam and hoped that these figures and specimens would become scientific products, projects and international publications ....

Responding to the speech of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petar Kirilov BERON, Dr. Viet said that VAWR is assignedto provide options for both biodiversity and biological measures to protect the river banks and coastline so the Academy expects that the two sides have more specific cooperation and exchange in the coming time.
