Water is a valuable resource that has an important and decisive influence on people's lives as well as the development of the country. Therefore, ensuring water security for sustainable development is a very important and necessary task. Particularly in the context of climate change (CC) is a complicated and unpredictable evolution as today. Especially in the context of climate change (CC) are increasingly complicated and unpredictable as today.. Vietnam is one of the most affected countries by climate change; therefore, ensuring water security is more urgent than ever. This paper presents an overview of the current status of water resources including both quality and quality, spatial and temporal distribution, and shortcomings in water resource management, and then addresses oriented suggestions to ensure the water security in Vietnam in the context of climate change.

Methane (CH4) emission from paddy field contributes to increase the global warming potential.. It is important to implement eco-friendly environment of water management to mitigate green house gas emission. The study on application of Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) piloting in Phu Thinh commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province has been implemented since the Winter-Spring Crop season, 2015.. The objectives of this study  are to monitor the temporal changes in CH4 fluxes from six paddy plots in the winter-spring and the summer-autumn seasons in order to define the influential factors to CH4 emission. The study results of two crop season show that: The cumulative CH4 flux in the winter-spring season was one fourth compared to that in the summer-autumn season (equivalent to 9.0 g m-2 in the winter-spring season (91days) and 37.3 g m-2 in the summer-autumn season (85days)). The percentage of CH4 flux in intermittent irrigation period compared to the total cropping period in the winter-spring season and in the summer-autumn season were 11% and 49% respectively. The field water management in the winter-spring season may be more effective than that in summer-autumn season due to less rainfall. The results of of multiple regression analysis (MRA) show thatthe correlations between CH4 fluxesand the influential factors (the paddy ponding water level, the soil water content at 5 cm deep, the soil temperature, electrical conductivity (Ec), Eh) are low in the both seasons. However, the CH4 fluxes decrease when the volumetric water content at a depth of 5 cm and the Eh is above 220 mV.

The management and operation of irrigation system plays an important role to ensure the effective performance and its capability to climate change adaptation. Normally, irrigation management and operation follows an irrigation management plan prepared by Irrigation Management Company for agriculture production of each crop season and it has not yet considered integration of climate change and water security. Therefore, integration of climate change and water security into irrigation management plan will response proactively to climate change and water security challeges which are increasing in Vietnam. This paper will introduce the pilot study results of “Integrating climate change and water security into irrigation management plan of Thong Nhat pumping system belong to Nam Thai Binh irrigation system”. A plan of management and operation of Thong Nhat pumping system integrated climate change and water security was developed. And the plan was implemented in 2016.

This paper anaylyze eveluating level of safety dyke, embankment in condition climite changing with rising sea water level by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. With this new approaching, allow to determine of density separate impact and combination impact to level of safety sea dyke, embankment consit of: Impact of wave; structure protect dyke, embankment; Geology of dyke, embankment causing erosion; Slide seaward slope; Slide filedward slope; Erosion the toe of embankment. After that managers can know weak position need to care of sea dyke and proposing prevention suitable plan

In recent years, white leg shrimp culture (Litopenaeus vannamei) has an important role in the economy of Vietnam in general and the North Central Province in particular. However, along with economic development issues is the environmental pollution problem and shrimp disease caused by waste from the shrimp farming activities. The optimal solution to this problem is treating wastewater from the shrimp culture. So far, there are many studies on waste treatment technologies in the world as well as in Vietnam. . However, these technologies are scattered in different studies. To develop sustainable aquaculture and to protect the natural environment, the wastewater treatment model are aggregated, analyzed in order to provide for the managers  scientist and famers an overview of the wastewater treatment technologies that is suitable to Vietnam conditions,  and especially, this technologies can be applied in the North Central of Vietnam. So that, we can choose the best wastewater treatment model. As a result, 17 wastewater treatment models (8 foreign technologies and 9 domestic models) were chosen. This models well fit with the conditions of Vietnam and can applied to treat wastewater from white leg shrimp farming in the North Central of Vietnam. These models simple operation, high efficiency, stability, low investment cost, eco-friendly and fit water quality standards before discharging into the natural environment.

The soft soil clays of the Mekong Delta is composed of young sediments of Holoxene age, formed from other sources and conditions, so that the soil contains many components that affect the quality of reinforce the soil. Results of soil improvement studies show that in the soil there are many coarse particles, silicate, quartz minerals have positive effects for soil improvement and soil with many clay minerals, organic cause disadvantages. When the organic content is greater than 20%, the unconfined compression strength of the sample increases, then decreases along curing time, with saline soils, use calcium-rich cement (CaO) which is better suited for low-CaO cement.

Socio-economic development has a negative impact water resources of the Cau River and Thuong River, leading to degraded and seriously polluted water sources in Thac Huong hydraulics structure system. Thac Huong hydraulics structure system receives wastewater from urban areas and residential areas such as Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Hiep Hoa and Viet Yen. Untreated waste water is discharged directly into the sewerage system, drainage system causing local pollution, combined with low level of discharge in the dry season, caused severe pollution of water resources in Thac Huong hydraulics structure system. The quality of water in Thac Huong hydraulics structure does not meet standard for agricultural production and ecosystem. The study incorporates results of water quality monitoring starting from 2016, with calculations of water allocation alternatives that have proposed a comprehensive solution for water supply, for water environment improvement in the Thac Huong hydraulics structure system, including waste treatment, monitoring of waste water effluents, development and operation of hydraulics structure system to reduce water pollution serving socio-economic development in the region.

Nowadays, Viet Nam has only one an arch dam, namely Nam Chien, constructed in Chien stream, Muong La district, Son La province. With its height of 135m, a catastrophic disaster can be appeared on Nam Chien’s downstream if dam collapses. The numerical model based on the non linear 2D shallow water  equations (2D-SWE) is considered as an effective tool in simulating the dam break flow.  Alternative solutions in the scenario of total, instantaeous dam collapse of Nam Chien arch dam are produced, such as: water depth hydrographs, discharge hydrographs, arrival time, time to reach maximum water level; flooding map. The 90m´90m DEM map of study area is resolved with difference grid sizes so as to estimate the influence of mesh size on these numerical results.

Study the stress state of the pile system under different load conditions considering the simultaneous operation of the pile system and the pile system in order to make the most of the piles' working capacity, economically. And improve the technical quality to ensure a stable and stable work. In this article the research team uses the finite element method with the support of SAP 2000 software, modeling the element in a three-dimensional space model, taking into account the interaction between the pile and the foundation. Analyze the stress state of the pile system when working concurrently with different load combinations. Research results on the stress state of the pile system when working simultaneously, the distribution of stress on the pile head in cases using the pile system.

Due to requirements of flood prevention and operation, traditional continuous culvert operation tower using for remedy reveal difficulties. Pre-stress precast culvert will solver these limitations. According to working conditions of the culvert of Vinh Trinh reservoir, Quang Nam province, this article shows the results and comparisons of calculated results of stress-strain analysis of pre-stress precast culvert and traditional continuous culvert. It is shown the successful of simulation process. Pre-stress precast culverthas many advantages about stress-strain and displacement distribution, especially almost culvert tower body has no tension stress. This takes advantage of compress ability of concrete material.
